The Domestic Affairs

"Alice" Amr shouted from the bedroom. "Where's my shock?"

Alicia turned off the shower, covered herself with the bathrobe and found him made a mess with one of the drawers. She frowned putting some panties back into the drawer, "That's all my stuffs here. Yours are in the other drawer." She opened the drawer on the top and took out some new socks. She wondered why her husband couldn't be independent. He was a traveler, he supposed to be so organized. She admired the way he chose his clothing. He cared about his appearance. He was a fashionable person. That's what people could see outside, but when he was in the house, he was a big mess. Every time Alicia was not around, in a couple of hours, there would be spilled juice on the floor or even one time spilled coffee on the bed. You would see the clothes unfolded everywhere, in the locker, on the chair, in the hanger, on the sofa, although she had told him many times about it. He said he did not have time for that. Well, it was not about you had time or not, it was a habit. He was lucky that they could afford a maid, so the house was neat and clean. Amr was a typical man that could not live alone. He needed someone to serve him. That's why he wanted her to stay home, but since business had collapsed, he did not have any choice except letting his wife to work. He gave a pair of sock to Alice and she knew it is his habit when he wanted her to spoil him. Carefully, Alicia put on the socks for him. She was happy when Amr did that, it showed that he needed her and she enjoyed the felling of being needed by the person she loved.

It was a rush and a bit messy Monday morning. Alicia did not have any urgent things for a couple of weeks, so she could stay home being a housewife. After she made him breakfast, she pour coffee into a flask and gave it to him.

"Here is your coffee. Don't forget your papers. I put them in the blue file folder last night because you left them scattered around on the table."

"Thank you, honey. You're the best." he gave her a kiss

"The best? So, there are some others you compare me with?"

"You know that's not what I mean."

"Okay, I will go to shop groceries. Do you have something I need to buy for you."

"I've finished my mouthwash. Just that."

"Okay. See you later. Have fun at work."she handed him the leather bag. His favorite working bag.

Having her time alone at home in the morning was a bless. She did not need the maid to come when she was around. She would like to do all the chores by herself. She would start by making her a cup of coffee and then cleaned the bathroom and washed the dishes. Then she would move into the bedroom. They made a mess because they made love almost every night and the cats sometimes slept on the bed. So, she decided to change the bed sheet. Then, she would mop the floor and wipe the furniture with a wet cloth to make sure that no dust left on the surface. Both of them had a severe allergy of dust. In between of doing all those things, she sipped her coffee. Then she sort out the clothes in the basket to be sent to the laundry and also those which was left by Amr everywhere.

At 10 am, she had finished everything. She was happy because actually she preferred to do the chores by herself. She could not trust any maid since there would be always something that was not good enough with what they were doing. She took a shower, put her make up and fled to the nearest shopping mall. She swung her sling bag back and forth while she's walking across the bridge which connecting her apartment and the shopping mall. Her dark blue jeans and white lace top wrapped her body perfectly. She just lost weight, but it did not meant that she was trying to be a slim lady just like those models she saw on TV. She was not fat actually. For a lady in the mid thirty, she was so vital, healthy and charming and something that people would always notice from her was her smile. She was a warm and friendly person but at the same time she was also someone that could be serious and goal-driven about what she was doing. She was a well-planned person and always be stressful with any changes in the last minute. But lately, she learned that sometimes she could not control everything based on what she had planned. So she started to be more flexible and made back up plan in every thing, including her marriage. She thought that one day nothing left except a commitment and she would not give up easily for that. But we would never know what was the other side thinking about it.
